Is vacation time used when off work for an injury to be compensated by Workman's Compensation Insurance?

Your PTO is not reimbursed by either you or your employer. You can receive both PTO and workers compensation payments, however if you make over the statutory limit on the established average monthly wage, then you may need to pad your pay with some PTO. If you have missed 12 calendar days from work, there is a 7 day wait period in Arizona before you get any compensation, however that will be paid if you are off 14 days or more. This is calendar days, not work days, and they do not have to be continuous days either. You are not reimbursed from the work comp carrier for mileage, or time off work to attend dr appointments or therapy in Arizona. If you have questions regarding how work comp works, you can discuss with your adjuster or call the Industrial Commission of Arizona Ombudsman. You need to talk to your adjuster to find out if you are getting a check and when, you should also get a Notice of Claim Status in the mail that shows the wage calculation for you average monthly wage, the amount of your check and the time it covers. As for PTO, if you get a work comp check, you could perhaps buy back your PTO, but that is between you and your employer.
