Severe scoliosis: what are long term effects on lungs, heart, etc.?

Hi im not an expert but i have severe curve too,and had surgery to stop me going worse, and i am now 37 and i know what you mean i too find it difficult to breathe(i still have severe curve)but the hospital advised me to take up swimming to strengthen my heart and lungs(i haven't been fear of water)but maybe this will work for you! they do say that it affects the heart and lungs in later life,and i do find i am more breathless now than i was a few years ago,i have a name of a spinal surgeon well his yahoo name, he is a member on this site yahoo answers, if you would like to E-mail him its, tchlmcc,i have him in my contacts.good luck.
