How can i make a storyline that ties together these 80's movies?

Maybe you could do some kind of 6 degrees of seperation thing, tell a completely different story with a brand new cheracter or maybe a cheracter that wasn't a lead in one of the original flix. Example The short geek (Anthony Micheal Hall) from 16 candles could be your lead, he is somehow related to ... Jeff Spicoli, who is best friends with ...... maybe it is 20 years later and they are all adults now.
