Is the McCain campaign afraid of a Palin "October surprise"?

The only people who seem to be afraid of anything related to Palin is Democrats. They have rolled out the smear campaign full force attacking on every possible front. I hope the investigation is concluded prior to the election and that people will make informed decisions based on the results. However, I refuse to speculate about innocence or guilt based on the evidence available currently. Silly me, I still believe in the concept of innocent until proved guilty.
