How my High School grade can affect my chances into getting college and if i do better?

So i did really bad my freshman year but i made up those cles that i failed and got all 100 on those cles (FAILED 5 SEMESTER and only made up 3 so far)! and If i do better in my other 3 years can it increase my chances of getting into a good university? My school is ranked 2nd in my city and is ranked in the top 20 high school in the U.S by newsweek/Washington post
